Where to hire a car at Palermo Airport
There are eleven car hire companies with desks at Palermo Airport: Noleggiare, Sixt, Sicily, Locauto, National, Maggiore, Holiday, Hertz, Europecar and Avis. All of the desks are inside the terminal, so you don’t need to go far to pick up your car.

Depending on your car rental agreement, you may need to hand your car back with a full tank.
Luckily there is an ESSO garage located just nine minutes by car from Palermo Airport. Head west from the airport; take the 5th roundabout exit and then the second on to the A29 for Palermo. Take the exit for the E90 towards Mazara then exit at Cinisi and the garage will be on the left hand side.

Palermo Airport is well connected to the region’s main roads. From Palermo you take the A29 motorway in the direction of Trapani and exit at Puntaraisi - Aeroporto Falcone e Borsellino. From Trapani you take the A29 motorway in the direction of Palermo and exit at Puntaraisi - Aeroporto Falcone e Borsellino.

Marvellous Mondello is a small seaside resort with a glorious white sandy beach that is perfect for any family holiday. It takes just 30 minutes to reach Mondello from Palermo Airport. Get on the A29 from the airport, take the E90 to the SS113 and exit towards Tommaso Natale. Follow the SS1313 towards Mondello.
With its stunning stretches of coastline, opulent palaces and charming towns, the tuna fishing town of Trapani is one of the most romantic spots in the whole of Sicily. Tour the beautiful surrounding countryside, stopping for a glass of wine to some delicious local food in a seaside cafe before witnessing a magical sunset over the Mediterranean.
Trapani is just an hour by car from Palermo Airport. Take the A29 from the airport, getting on the E90 then the E933 to Raccordo in Trapani. Take the SP29 and follow signs for the centre.
Sicily’s main city is a beautiful one boasting dramatic architecture, winding streets and bustling cafes, markets, restaurants and bars. Brash and bold, here Arabian culture mixes with Italian from the high fashion shops and Baroque piazzas to the noisy outdoor markets. With the one of the largest historical centres in Italy, there is plenty of exploring to be done here and more culture than you can shake a stick at from museums and galleries to ancient monuments and some stunning architecture.
Palermo is just 40 minutes by car from the airport. Get on the A29 from the airport then on to the E90 for Palermo. Take the exit for the Centro.
On-street parking Palermo is charged from Monday to Friday from 8am to 2pm then from 6pm to 8pm. The rate is €0.50 to 1.00 per hour depending on the zone you park in. Parking is from up to 3 hours to unlimited. There are also car parks where you can park for up to 24 hours. Rates are from €1.00-€1.50 per hour. Some hotels in Palermo also offer free parking.
