Flights to Antalya

Antalya is the capital of the ‘Turkish Riviera’, so named because of its stunning cliff-side coastal location. Ancient and mountainous Antalya welcomes thousands of visitors, rushing to escape the UK climate, to its dazzlingly blue shores every year.

There are beaches and resorts a-plenty for those looking for a holiday with minimum exertion, but just a little effort rewards explorers with a whole host of treasures, often dating back to ancient Rome.  Walk through magnificent Hadrianus Gate with its white marble pillars to Kaleiçi, the Old Quarter, and stroll the magical labyrinth of winding streets that hide wooden-shuttered Ottoman architecture, the breath-taking fluted minarets of Yivli Minare, the clock tower of Saat Kulesi and onward to the fortified Roman port of Yat Limanı and its magnificent harbour walls.  Don’t miss a trip to Perge and Aspendos to see the largest and most well preserved Roman amphitheatre in the world.

Take a rumbling old tram to the Temple of Apollo, the archaeological site of the ancient city of Phaselis or the Antalya Museum where artefacts tell the story of this incredible city. Or visit the Kursunlu and Manavgat waterfalls to soak up Antalya’s natural beauty.

Children will love a day splashing about in Aqualand or seeing the wonderful sea creatures in Antalya Aquarium. Another great day out is Antalya Zoo which is made up of 400 acres of stunning nature park with hundreds of animals for children to marvel at. There are opportunities for retail therapy in Migros and Terra City shopping malls while an energetic climb up Tünektepe hill promises eye-catching views and a rotating restaurant in which to admire them.

By night, Antalya boasts booming clubs and lively bars for those seeking entertainment that lasts ‘til dawn, while local tavernas serving Raki and playing folk music make a relaxing alternative.

Best Time to Visit

April to May and September to October are the most pleasant months to visit Antalya with temperatures not too hot but still war enough to enjoy strolling the city or enjoying the Balck Sea and Mediterranean resorts. June to August is the peak holiday time, both in terms of hot weather and numbers of tourists so it is best avoided. There is no winter season in Turkey but it has been known to snow in Turkey from late November to early January.

As well as the weather, there are other incentives to visit Antalya. In September and October the Golden Orange Film Festival is in full swing showing many acclaimed titles in a fun festival atmosphere. It may be worth braving the cold to see the incredible Camel Festival in January or perhaps the Jazz Festival, the Opera Festival and the International Volleyball Tournament are more enticing in June.  July sees the return of the Alanya Triathalon Games while August brings with it the International Folk and Song Festival.
