It is awesome and beautiful. If you're into late gothic cathedrals, this is one of the finest examples, as well as being the tallest. You can climb to the top, which is pretty scary. There is a middle stopping area where sane people stop at a large observation area. For the full horrifying experience you can keep climbing from there as the staircase gets narrower and narrower until it it so small it becomes a double helix to accomodate one way movement in each direction. Ulm is a nice small city as well, but the experiencing the cathedral erased everything else from my mind.
I visited Ulm in Germany because I wanted to visit Rommel's grave in the local churchyard. This is a very nice place and the people friendly.
Very nice tourist place. Places to see: old city (Love it!); the city hall (Beautiful!); climb the Munster church; walk on the city wall along Donau. Try to synkronice the visit with the yearly festival (third weekend i July) :)
Massive medieval cathedral, real fun to climb the tower, staircases are a bit narrow, only for small to normal body shape and good condition, highest position is about 150m ... could be stormy, still amazing views all along until the snowcovered alps, real great feeling.
