Visible from the Villa,a great day trip is up into the Dolomite mountains to the famous Ski Resort of Cortina D'Ampezzo. Great to visit even in the summer when you can ride a cable car to the very peak of the mountain for the most awesome views. The drive both up and down is a feast for the eyes with views all the way. Located in the heart of the Dolomite mountain range in an alpine valley, Cortina is a popular winter sport resort known for its ski-ranges, scenery, accommodations, shops and après-ski scene. Much of 1963 classic The Pink Panther, the progenitor of the series, was filmed in Cortina. One of the memorable James Bond stunt sequences in 1981's For Your Eyes Only, gunners on spike-wheeled motorcycles chasing Roger Moore on skis, was filmed on its slopes, as were several scenes in the film Cliffhanger. It is also known for its jet set and aristocratic European crowd

Italy's top ski resort and favored by people from Milan, it is set amid the dramatic scenery of the Dolomites. The sports facilities in the area are excellent and it is possible to practice all sorts of winter sports as well as - during the summer - walking and hiking as there are plenty of trails.
