Terminal Information – Departing
Bucharest has one main International Airport, located 19km outside of the city centre. It's also known as Henri Coandă International Airport (OTP).
There is only one terminal in Bucharest Airport, which makes your journey fairly easy. The check in desks are visible on arrival in the departures terminal.
Shops, restaurants and Lounges in Bucharest
There are a number of food and beverage stores before you head to security in Bucharest Airport – Brioche Doree, Route 96 and Cafe Lavazza are all in the public departures zone. There are also a number of fast food outlets and cafes after security, including Burger King, City Cafe, and Momenti Peroni.
You can also stock up on Romanian goodies before you leave for Dublin – Romanian Wines have an outlet in Bucharest departures terminal, as do Best Value Express and Press One. This is where you can pick up magazines and books for your flight. If you fancy it, there also happens to be a Barbers & Hairdressers on the ground floor of the departures Terminal in Bucharest Airport (before security!)
There are 2 lounges in Bucharest Airport, Henri Coandă and Aurel Vlaicu. Both have wifi, meeting rooms, buffet style catering, plenty of drinks and the daily international papers. It costs €35 to access the lounges as a non-Business class, occasional visitor, but if you hold a business class ticket you will be invited to the lounges at check in.
Terminal Information – Arriving
It's a relatively easy and straight forward process once you arrive at Dublin. It's a large airports, so there are walkways to help you along, but baggage arrives fairly quickly and the queues for passport control are managed efficiently.
Once you arrive into the arrivals hall, you'll see that there is a restaurant, Angel's Share, a handful of cafes and an information desk for the next leg of your trip. There's also an ATM and Bureau de Change.
How to get to Dublin
The cheapest way to get to Dublin from the airport is by using the public bus. The #16 goes from Dublin Airport into the city centre, and takes 35 minutes. It costs €3.30 for a single ticket on board this bus, which you can buy once you alight the bus. Typically, you are not able to buy tickets on board Dublin buses.
The Express Aircoaches are also a great way to get into the city if you are on a budget and want to get to Dublin fast. It costs €7 for a single ticket, and €14 for a return. These run throughout the day, beginning at 3.25am, and finishing at 11.55pm.
Taxis are the most expensive option at €20 to €30 per journey, but if there are more than 2 of you, it may cost less to just grab a cab. These are available outside of the terminal building.
The car rental car park is a short walk away from the terminal, but the offices are all inside the arrivals hall.

What to expect in Dublin
Dublin is 63% more expensive than Bucharest! You'll definitely notice the difference when dining and drinking in Dublin's city centre. Pints cost more than €5, and evening meals cost upwards of €60 for 2.Dublin's booming tourism industry is part of the reason for this: if you go off the beaten track in the city centre, particularly towards the University or the outer suburbs, you'll find more affordable restaurants and bars.
The attractions in Dublin might also tot up to be a big expense. If you do plan on seeing the Guinness Storehouse, the Book of Kells, Kilmainham Gaol and the rest, it may be worth investing in the Dublin Pass – this buys you access to 25 of Dublin's top attractions for €49.
