Basil Fawty in Pinjarra
We booked two nights at the Pinjarra Resort. We were attending a music festival which got cancelled due to bad weather. The event organisers offered a refund, unfortunately the Pinjarra resort did not so we decided to make a weekend of it.
Check in was quick and easy and the staff were very pleasant.
We were not expecting the Ritz with this accommodation, their main clients are out of town workers. But being perfectly honest, the room was fine. The bed was comfortable, bathroom facilities were adequate, certainly nothing bad.
The hotel has an Indian restaurant which we dined at on our first night. We know our way around Indian cuisine and the food was pretty good. We had a really nice meal, the wine was ok too.. all in all a good experience.
Then it all goes bad! The following night we ate at a nearby pub. We got back to the hotel at around 9:30pm. We had some friends - who were also staying at the hotel - join us outside our room for a few drinks, we also had another couple of friends who were staying nearby join us, so basically six of us, chatting and playing some music which was in no way, shape or form being played loudly. We are very respectful 50 somethings not rowdy teenagers. At around 9:50, some guy who I assume was the manager and owner showed up with a very embarrassed looking member of staff and literally started shouting at us about the music and the fact we were sitting outside our paid for accommodation having a natter. The term “went off like a frog in a sock” comes to mind! I bit my tongue for as long as I could before I felt I had to retort! I explained to him how rude he was and how aggressive he was being. This only seemed to fire him up even more. I then got up and demonstrated to him how - by asking us in a calm and civil manner - he would have got the desired outcome, (us turning the music off) without resorting to an absolute raging nutcase!
I’l like to add at this point that if any other guests were inconvenienced by the music, I do apologise. When Basil Fawty started his rant, he did scream that there were complaints. I’d be dubious of that claim but feel like it needs to be acknowledged.
Needless to say, we were all in a state of shock. We obviously turned the music off and he went off raging into the night. For us the night was ruined! Reading some past reviews, it would seem this is not the first time he has done this. To this gentleman, I would like to offer the following advice. People who stay at your hotel, pay you for this privilege and do not expect to be spoken to like something you find on the bottom of your shoe. If you have such disdain for your customers, I would suggest either getting out of the hotel game all together, or get yourself a trained manager in who knows how to treat hotel guests.
On the plus side, we did get our deposit back quickly so maybe they do read the reviews ♂️
Do better mate!

There was a large family that had also booked in and we were very disappointed when one group out of this family was asked to leave because their kids had their cousins over for a swim who weren't staying at the hotel. The kids were well behaved, having fun and not causing any trouble, nor were the family, they even called the police who attended and escorted the calm family off the property. It was an extreme over reaction in our opinion and we did wonder if it were because the family were of a different culture to the people running the resort.

Do not go here.
We were not there for more then 2 hours and were told to leave even after just giving our deposit bond over to them , they did not refund us the bond or the money we had paid for the room in total.
Not to mention it is not a resort at all , more like a lodge. We paid for 3 people and due to having 1 child extra who was 8 years old which I was driving back to mandurah that same evening due to the three day event we had there. we were told to leave and pack our bags however the extra child was not sleeping there with us and to top it off it was Good Friday and nothing else was available. We said we would drop the child off now and return with the people only sleeping and still were told to leave with no explanation. the manager who was working on the 3/4/2026 was yelling at us , he did not want to hear us out he was rude , unprofessional and so was his staff and I would not recommend anyone with children or just anyone in general to go to this resort which should be called a lodge it is so misleading. The pool was dirty , it had bugs all inside of it.
Seems like a big scam and they have multiple bad reviews with the same history of keeping people’s bonds and money and acting in an unprofessional manner.

SCAMMERS MAKE SURE YOU READ TERMS AND CONDITIONS
We booked 2 nights over the Easter holidays and was kicked out due to not allowed visitors , The visitors we had with us where children, they told us to leave the children outside of the premises or they will call the police, we haven’t even been at the property for less then 2 hours we checked in at 2 o’clock and was kicked out around 3:30. We had to re pack all our cloths and drive back to Joondalup Perth They called the police to remove us , the police have told me they always have issues at this resort, the manager seems to know what he is doing he will look for anything to make money!
I believe they are scammers and could be running a business in correctly !, they have workers on 457 visas that can’t even speak English , also living at the resort. We had paid 1200$ all up including bond, we only had our bond refunded, still haven’t received it , there is a high chance we won’t receive it after looking at all the reviews!
If anyone has had the same experience in the past report this resort to consumer affairs !!
