Clean family owned hotel

Very clean room with nice view to the beach. Before mid/end of June there are not many people in the area so you do not need reservation but can visit directly and negotiate the price. The hotel offers free bikes. LTE internet is sporadic and sometimes you don’t have coverage. No Wi-Fi but that’s normal for the area. Best choice of hotel in the area!

Great Value

We were based in Malia, had hired a car and had visited Ierapetra before heading west along the coast road but took a wrong turn and headed inland but swung back towards the coast after too many hair pin bends. After even more hair pin bends we came to Sidonia...WOW what a place ! We quickly decided that we would stay overnight if accommodation could be found and also extend the car hire which was due back that evening. Car hire sorted, I found Villa Irida which offered a reasonable price. We were offered two rooms to view, one with a sea view and a double bed, the other had no sea view and single beds but 5 euros cheaper. We took the sea view room and negotiated the cheaper rate. The room was basic but it had fridge, kettle, tv with USB charging port for the all important mobile phones (but you have to leave the tv on) The shower door was incomplete so you had to aim the water back into the cubicle. The air con' was also included in the price.
The 'hotel' is nearly on the beach with only the village road separating.
NOTE - I believe the Golden Beach tavern, across the road from the Villa Irida is owned by the same family....the food we had was 'best avoided'

Very bad choice!

We arrived with my family, after a phone reservation for 2 two bed rooms. While we entered both rooms upon our arrival, a very bad and disgusting smell was present in both rooms. In general both rooms gave us very strong the impression that had not been cleaned for ages especially the toilets and the kitchen equipment like dishes glasses etc. We left after 2 days as the smell and the dirt were unbearable! The owner looked very surprised and frustrated as he would not accept our claims. Due to his rather aggressive behavior, I did not have the time to take relevant photos. Plus the fact that until today He rather avoids issuing the receipt for our stay......
A statement: Greek innkeepers around Greece like in Psari Forada, who wish to call themselves "Hoteliers" must realize eventually, that clients are not dummies and not all of us accept relevant behavior. To run a serious hotel business regardless the category, means that you need to ask yourself if you first of all would accept to pay and stay in a similar hotel or rented room as the one you sell. If you cannot run this business like a professional, step aside and let others do the job. It is never to late to admit it!

Average

Honestly 2 minutes away from the sea. Ok for a couple of nights sleep but not clean at all. Very small showers and extremely difficult to cook in the kitchenette provided. Food in the restaurant pretty average and rather greasy and pricy for what it is.

Beautiful rooms but not clean

Beautiful rooms, could be great, but not clean at all. The sheets and pillowcases weren't changed, the folded towels were not white clean and the bathroom was not cleaned from the previous visitors. Also there was sand on the floor. Too bad for the owner who is a really kind and friendly person.

Very good location
