It was a very horrible experience.
Upon our arrival in Goa, heavy rains began, and forecasts predicted persistent rain for the entire week. Considering the weather conditions, we decided it would be prudent to shorten our stay to just one night and return to Hyderabad the following day. We approached the staff, explained our predicament, and requested a refund for the remaining nights after paying for one night. Unfortunately, we were informed that no refunds could be issued. The staff cited the manager’s refusal to authorize a refund, but despite our repeated attempts, we never had the chance to speak with the manager directly.
Reluctantly, we accepted the situation and decided to spend the night. Our first impression upon entering the cottage was disappointing. The door of our room faced a busy road just 25 feet away, which compromised both privacy and serenity. Although the room itself was decent, the bathroom was a significant letdown—it lacked a roof and an exhaust fan, making it uncomfortable and far from the “premium” standard one would expect. Additionally, the room did not provide a mineral water bottle but instead offered water in an old jug, a very basic amenity that was sorely missed.
In the evening, we decided to sample the food and drinks. The drinks were reasonably priced, but the food did not meet expectations. The menu offered both North Indian and Chinese options, but only Chinese dishes were available, and they fell short of quality.
The next morning, I was disheartened to find that opening the door felt like being in a room right by the roadside with people constantly passing by, further diminishing our sense of privacy. Breakfast was equally disappointing. The spread included chapathi, aloo curry, channa bhaji, bread, cornflakes, milk, butter, jam, omelette, coffee, and tea. The chapathi was so hard it resembled a papad, and both the aloo curry and channa bhaji were bland, lacking proper seasoning. We ended up skipping breakfast and decided to check out as soon as possible.
Before leaving, I contacted the owner to request that the cost of our last night’s food be adjusted against our advance payment, allowing them to keep the remaining balance. The owner’s response was shockingly rude. He refused our request outright and stated that he had “allowed” us to stay for one night, implying that he was doing us a favor. This kind of attitude from the owner is unacceptable and unprofessional, especially given the high rates.
The amount we paid was exorbitant, and the experience fell far short of what one would expect from a premium property. It seems that the property may cater to guests seeking a basic stay rather than those looking for a premium experience. The property’s high pricing during the off-season seems to exploit guests, which is deeply disappointing. I would not recommend this place to friends and advise others to be cautious before booking here.
