Great hotel in Shela

Very good hotel in Shela island. We stayed for 3 nights and the hospitality and service was very good. Their breakfast is the best and specially having it on the rooftop lounge was very enjoyable with the island and ocean views.

Horrible and Unpleasant Experience

Worst experience ever in my travels.
The room had old torn sheets. Room never cleaned unless you complained about it. Old shower with mold on the walls and floor and shower head. No hot water. Slow WiFi if lucky to.get a connection.
Slow service particularly at breakfast. Once i ordered cheese omelette and they put lemon instead!! I stopped complaining because the staff and manager could not be bothered.
I spent my days away from the hotel just to avoid a negative vibe as it almost ruined my stay in Lamu.
Stay away from this hotel as it will ruin an otherwise lovely experience in Lamu

Nice quiet hotel

Nice quiet place. It is clean and the staff is friendly. Have lived on the top floor, with large terrace and great views over the surrounding houses to the sea. The food in the attached restaurant was tasty. Since our flight only left at 4pm we were granted a late checkout at no additional cost.

Excellent location and attentive staff!

We had a wonderful stay at Msafini. The accommodations were comfortable, clean, and excellently priced. The location was ideal, just a few minutes' walk to restaurants and shops in Shela. The staff were incredibly helpful and attentive, and the breakfasts, though simple, were delicious. Thank you for such a lovely stay!

Tranquil, beautiful, friendly

We had a wonderful stay at Msafini. The building is beautiful, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the swimming pool was gorgeous. We had the King suite on the top floor which was fantastic with a huge private balcony/terrace and gorgeous view across Shela to the sea. The beds were comfortable, and while it was hot at night (no AC), the fans helped a bit. Shower was just about ok. Oh and the breakfast was good - delicious smoothies, fresh fruit and various combinations of eggs/toast/pancakes. Actually the omelette was a bit thin and bland, and the toast was dry white bread but the pancakes looked nice and the Swahili breakfast was interesting and pretty delicious (coconut lentils, samosas, swahili doughnuts and various other bits). Overall a very relaxing place, a little rustic but beautiful and great value for money.
