Surprisingly good.
The rooms are on one side of a secure courtyard. No lifts- but no problem for us. A large, spacious apartment with all mod. cons and comfortable seating. We would be happy to stay there for some time but probably not for much eating in. There is a shopping centre with food and cafes across the road and a KFC very nearby. Pretty good security. They also gave us advice regarding walking around town. Well sited for everything we wanted to see.
Negative? Having read about noise, the main issue was that we asked for and were promised a room away from the road - but then we were not given one. So do not trust their promises. In fact, noise was not a significant problem on the top floor - but that's not the point. You have to accept that it is in a (mostly fairly quiet) part of a city and there are generator or air conditioning sounds around which are noticeable at night. We didn't have significant problems with insects but I did find 2 bites on the second night so keep the windows closed. It is, of course, possible that they were not bitten at the Guest House. I probably wouldn't undertake to do any significant cooking there, either, as the amount of equipment was pretty limited.

Geräumige Wohnungen in zentraler Lage
Das “Home Inn” Self Catering in Windhuk ist kein klassisches Hotel, sondern es handelt sich in gewissermaßen um ein Apartmenthotel, mit einigen wirklich riesigen Wohneinheiten, verteilt auf 3 Stockwerken. Die Rezeption ist 24 Stunden geöffnet, dazu gibt es einen (mit einer Pumpgun bewaffneten) Security an der Einfahrt zum Hotel.
Vom 40km entfernten Flughafen fährt man mit dem Taxi ca. 30 Minuten zum Home Inn, dessen Lage sehr zentral ist: in der Nähe befindet sich das Wernhill Einkaufszentrum, und in 10 Minuten zu Fuß ist man im Stadtzentrum mit der Independence Road und unweit zur Christuskirche. Im Hypermarkt „Pack n Pay“ (bis 19h geöffnet) im Wernhill Park kann man sich für den Aufenthalt im Home Inn versorgen.
Unser Apartment (8) war 100m2 groß, mit Wohnzimmer (mit riesigem Flachbild-TV mit unzähligen Fernseh- und Radiokanälen), Terrasse, Küche, zwei Schlafzimmern (eines mit Doppelbett, eines mit zwei Einzelbetten, beide mit Klimaanlagen), Badezimmer (mit Dusche/WC und Waschmaschine) und separatem WC. Die Küchenasstattung umfasste Kühlschrank, Mikrowelle, Toaster, Wasserkocher, dazu Töpfe, Pfannen und Geschirr/Besteck für 6 Personen. Sowohl bei Check-in als auch Check-out wurde sämtliches Inventar der Wohnung überprüft und abgezählt (einschließlich der Adapter, Messer, Gabel etc.). Sichtlich Spuren der deutschen Kolonialzeit! ;-) Das kostenlose WLAN-Internet und funktionierte tadellos.
Frühstück war im Zimmerpreis inkludiert und wurde zur vereinbarten Zeit ins Apartment zugestellt: es handelte sich dabei um Eierspeise mit Speck bzw. Schinken, gerösteter Zwiebel, Tomate und dazu zwei Scheiben Toastbrot. Durchaus in Ordnung.
Was man aber in Küche allerdings vermisst, sind Grundausstattungen zum Kochen oder Geschirr abwaschen: kein Spülmittel, keine Fetzchen zum Abwischen. Auch etwas Waschmittel für die Waschmaschine wäre ein Plus an Service, denn wert will diesbezüglich noch Ausgaben haben, wenn er nur wenige Nächte bleibt? Die Wohnungen werden übrigens nur alle 3 Tage serviciert.
Trotzdem: riesige Wohnungen, gute Lage und guter Preis – eigentlich nur zu empfehlen.
