Where to hire a car at Cagliari Airport

Luckily there is an ESSO garage located just 6 minutes drive from Cagliari Airport. Head south and get on the SS391 from the airport. Merge on to the E25 onto Strada Statale 131. The petrol station will be on the left hand side.
Driving around Cagliari Airport
Cagliari Airport is well served by the region’s main roads. The airport is only 7 km away from Cagliari city centre. From Cagliari take the S.S.130 from the city centre or the S.S. 554 from other parts of the city to the airport. You can reach the S.S. 554 from the Asse Mediano di Scorrimento . From Sassari/Nuoro/Oristano you can reach Cagliari Airport via the S.S.131 southbound towards Cagliari. Follow the ‘Aeroporto Elmas’ signs once you are on the S.S.130. From Olbia follow the S.S.131 southbound towards Cagliari and merge in the S.S.131, then the S.S.130 following the Aeroporto Elmas signs. Another option is driving on the S.S.125 southbound towards Cagliari. From the South-Western Coastal road, take the S.S.195 towards Cagliari, then turn onto the S.S.130 and follow the airport signs. From the South-Eastern Coastal road, take the S.P. 17 that connects Villasimius to Cagliari.

Alghero is a two and a half hour drive from Cagliari Airport. Get on to the SS391 taking the second exit onto Via Giua. Merge with the E25 towards Olbia. Keep left taking the exit for Alghero. Merge with the Strada Statale 291 following signs for Alghero centre.

The drive to Olbia from Cagliari Airport is just under 3 hours. Get on the E25 then merge with the Strada Statale 131. Take the right lane 127 ramp and keep right to Olbia following the signs to the centre.

Cagliari is just 12 minutes from the airport. Head south and take the roundabout exit for the SS391. From here, take the exit to Via dei Valenzani following signs for Cagliari centre.
Parking in Cagliari is free on a Sunday and charged at €0.50 to €1.00 per hour the rest of the week from 1pm to 4pm. Underground parking is cheaper at just €5 for the whole day. Parking on Via Eleonora D'Arborea is always free but you have more chance of winning the lottery than finding a space. Some hotels in Cagliari offer free car parking.
