Where to hire a car at Asturias Airport
There are three car hire companies with desks at Asturias Airport: Enterprise, Avis, and Europcar. All of the desks are inside the terminal, so you don’t need to go far to pick up your car.
Petrol stations near Asturias Airport
Depending on your car rental agreement, you may need to hand your car back with a full tank.
Luckily there is a Repsol garage located just under 20 minutes drive from Asturias Airport. Head west from the airport and get on to the A-81. Take the exit for the N-632 and take exit 98 for the AS-17. Follow signs for the AS-238 and the petrol station will be on the right hand side.
Driving around Asturias Airport
Asturias Airport is well connected to the region’s main roads. The airport is located in Santiago del Monte, Castrillon. Situated 15 km away from Aviles, 40 km from Gijon and 47 km from Oviedo, it can be easily accessed by car through the A8 highway. The coast of Asturias is the meeting point of two major road links; the Ruta de la Plata and the Cantabrian Highway. The first runs south to north from Gijon to Sevilla close to the A-66 motorway. The second is the N-634 which runs from Irun to Santiago de Compostela, along the Cantabrian Sea.

Gijon is just 30 minutes drive by car from Asturias Airport. From the airport, get on the A8 towards Gijon, take the left hand lane to the E-70 and take exit A-8 towards Gijon. From here, take the AS-248 and keep left following signs to Gijon.
The historic old town of Oviedo is a delightful maze of cobble-stone plazas, majestic cathedrals, quirky shops, museums, cafes and bustling open-air markets. By night its spirited local tavernas, bars, clubs and theatres come to life. Surrounded by breath-taking countryside, Oviedo a great combination of outdoor escapism and vibrant nightlife.
Oviedo is just a 30 minute drive from Asturias Airport. Get on the A8 from the airport towards Oviedo. Use the right hand lane to exit at 391 towards the A66. Keep left on the A66 and follow signs for Oviedo.

It takes just 30 minutes to reach the centre of Asturias from the airport. Get on the A8 from the airport, towards Oviedo. Take exit 391 to merge onto the A66, keep in the right hand lane for the A63, the merge with the 0-12 following signs to Asturias.
Asturias has a combination of pay and display and free on-street parking with many outdoor car parks also dotted throughout the area. Many hotels in Asturias also offer free parking.
