Flights to Canada
Spanning six time zones, Canada is a vast, sprawling country that is home to some of the most spectacular untouched landscapes in the world. From the wild and remote plains of the Northwest Territories and the Prairies of the East to liberal British Colombia and enchanting French speaking Quebec; flights to Canada draw visitors from all over the globe with the promise of ravishing scenery, hip, bohemian cities and outdoor adventure by the bucket load!
If you don’t have time to visit all of Canada’s extraordinary sights there are a few that should come top of the list. The unparalleled Arctic beauty of the North is the place to sleep in a tepee under the stars while the dazzling Northern Lights shimmer around you. A husky dog sled ride by day, through crisp white snow is also a must. If mountains are your bag then head west to the breath-taking Rockies where you can ski, snowboard, hike and rock climb, swim in crystal clear glacial lakes and stroll Calgary’s historic streets. Head East to the foodie haven of Vancouver or to Central Canada to sample the vibrant cities of Toronto, Ontario and Quebec; ride the world's highest glass elevator to the top of the CN Tower in 58 seconds, shop ‘til you drop in hip boutiques and organic markets, see Ontario’s frozen grapes that go into their famous wine and visit the Sugar Shacks and ancient fortifications of magical Quebec City. Whether you crave adrenalin sports like glacier climbing, kayaking, snow-mobiling or bungee jumping; outdoor adventure from cowboy ranching and whale watching to spectacular Pacific storms; or the finer things in life from mouth-watering cuisine, and sumptuous spas to music festivals and hip bars, it would take a lifetime to see all that Canada has to offer!
What to Bring
Since you can do pretty much everything in Canada, what to bring depends on what you want to do. If flying to Canada to spend time on the slopes, your skis or snowboard would be worth bringing although you can hire them in all ski resorts. There are many lakes to swim and hot tubs to languish in, so pack you bathers. You can even bring your own bicycle if you plan to spend most of your time on two wheels. Again the whole family can hire these in many parts of the country, and get excellent recommendations on bike trails. Outdoor adventure often requires camping gear like tents, sleeping bags and cooking paraphernalia which you can bring with you or buy when you get there. Mossie repellent and bite cream isn’t a bad idea if you plan to be outside a lot as well as a small first aid kit just in case. It’s always best to be prepared! Don’t leave home without a camera and clothing that covers you for snow, wind, rain and sunshine!
Most visitors from European countries, or those with a US Green Card, do not require a visa to visit Canada for up to six months, just a passport with 6 months validity. However, always check with your local embassy in case you need to provide any additional documentation.
