Flights to Vancouver International

Vancouver is just one of the many diverse, vibrant and modern cities that have blossomed in Canada.

Vancouver is a seaport town on the coast of British Columbia, and it’s the 8th biggest city in Canada. Over 52% of Vancouver’s residents have a first language other than English, so they really do have a multicultural atmosphere. The city borders the American state of Seattle, and sits a ferry ride away from Vancouver Island. Just above the city you can escape to the infamous skiing resort of Whistler, not to mention the Garibaldi National Park.

Although the city might be far away on the West Coast, over half a million people choose to live in this charming metropolis. They’re trying to become one of the world’s greenest cities, and you can see from the way they treat their lush parks that they’re right on track. Obviously, Stanley Park is the crowning glory with an 8.8km coastal bike ride and 27km of forest treks to explore, but Queen Elizabeth Park, Trout Lake and Lynn Canyon Park are all within driving distance of the city.

If you aren’t seeing Vancouver from Stanley Park, you should probably try to see it from the water. Rent out a kayak or hop on a ferry for a panoramic view of the “City of Glass”. You might even be able to see Science World, recognized for it’s huge dome and interactive exhibitions.

Luckily, the folks in Vancouver are huge foodies with food trucks being more of a tradition than a trend in this city. They’re big fans of hot dogs and roast chestnuts, but don’t worry – there are over 100 trucks to choose from in the city, so you’re sure to find something you like.

What you need to know

The airport is 15km from downtown Vancouver, and there’s a rapid transit rail link connecting the airport to the city. You can get to Richmond in 18 minutes, and Vancouver in 26.
