Quite honestly Irvine is a good city to live. There is low crime and the place is clean. It does come with a high cost of hoa, mello roos and other fees. The schools are really good here.
Love Irvine, has everything organized, clean and accessible. Great safe city
Irvine is clean, great for families, always has awesome weather and lots of shopping. Not the most exciting city to visit if you're into night life and attractions, but good place to raise a family.
I spend a lot of time in Irvine due to having gone to UCI and then working in this area for 10 years so I'm very familiar with the notable eateries around. Irvine Spectrum is a popular outdoor shopping area with an Edwards IMAX, but the best places to eat there are Tender Greens (great salads and entree meals), Cucina Enoteca (italian), and Nordstrom Cafe (seriously great dishes here). I haven't had the pleasure of trying Paul Martin's just yet, but I've heard good things. Diamond Jamboree plaza is an Asian dining/shopping area that has a korean H Mart Market, with 85C Bakery, the new Meet Fresh Taiwanese Shaved Ice, SWSH Shabu Shabu, Capitol Seafood (peking duck!), GuppyHouse (meh overpriced), and Bon Epi Patisserie (cakes/macarons). Parking is really insane here since the layout blows, but park in the structure behind the plaza and you should be ok. Irvine is also home to some great parks and hiking spots too! In addition to the OC Great Park where there's a giant air balloon that you can ride in. They periodically have Farmer's Markets there too. Overall, Irvine is a family-friendly city so it's a bit sterile, but it's slowly opening up to becoming a night-friendly city that people can "hang out" in instead of driving all the way to LA.
