Southampton Airport Information

Southampton Airport is 6.5km from the city centre. Over the past few years it's become much more popular, and is now ranked as one of the top 20 busiest airports in the UK. Southampton Airport has plenty of interesting history. It's built over the remains of an old Roman villa, and hosted the first test flight of the Supermarine Spitfire in 1936. There's a replica of the 'plane just outside the airport. Flybe and Aer Lingus both offer direct flights from Ireland to Southampton.

Shops at Southampton Airport

Southampton Airport has two shops, World Duty Free and WH Smith. The airport's duty free shop has a reserve and collect service, where you can pre-book your goodies and pick them up on the way home. WH Smith offers books, magazines and snacks that you can enjoy on board your flight home.
