Popular destinations to drive to from Rhodes Airport
Rhodes is one of the most popular and cosmopolitan towns on this island, with plenty of five star hotels and ancient ruins to look through. There are many one way roads in Rhodes, and the streets can become quite narrow too. Pay attention to the signs, and your best bet for a parking spot is in your hotel, or on the coast in a Pay & Display area.
The town centre of Rhodes is just a 20 minute drive away. Exit the one way street, turning left onto Επαρ.Οδ. Ιαλυσού-Κατταβιάς, and continue to drive straight through Kremasti and Ialysos for 7km until you start to drive into Rhodes town. If your resort is on the east coast of Rhodes near the Acropolis, continue straight on this road. If you want to head to the centre or the east coast, turn right on Ηλιάδων. Continue on this road until you come to a main road, where you will need to turn right, then left, then right again (immediately) to turn back on yourself to reach the town centre of Rhodes. The roads here become narrow and there are sharp turns, so it isn’t always advisable to park on the street – even if it’s permitted.
Lindos has the best of both worlds – sandy white beaches and rugged coastal cliffs to explore. The Acropolis is also well worth a morning stroll, as you’ll have an excellent view of the coast.
Lindos is one of the furthest locations from Rhodes airport, but it still takes less than an hour to drive there. The fastest way to get there is by using the EO95 that runs down the east coast of Rhodes. Head north when exiting the airport, and turn right onto Επαρ.Οδ. Παστίδας. After 10km, turn right onto the EO95, following the signs for Faliraki/Lindos. Continue for 38km down Rhodes’ east coast, and after Kalathos turn left into Lindos. You can also turn right for Lardos, or continue south using the Eparchiaki Odos Asklipiou.
This is the biggest beachy resort on Rhodes, popular with big group holidays and beach bums alike. There’s a wide choice of accommodation here, and a very social nightlife too.
Faliraki is directly parallel to Rhodes airport, and it’s less than a 20 minute drive from the west coast. Head left when you exit the airport, and after 2 minutes turn right onto Επαρ.Οδ. Παστίδας. Drive along for 5km, and merge onto Επαρ.Οδ. Καλυθιές-Παστίδας. After 4km, turn right onto ΕΟ95 – this is one of the biggest roads in Rhodes. Continue until you see the signs for Kalithea, and proceed into the centre of Faliraki. Roads throughout the centre of Rhodes can have huge potholes and become quite narrow in places. There’s also a petrol station in Faliraki for topping up.
