Car Hire from Warsaw Modlin Airport

Car Hire from Warsaw Modlin Airport

Warsaw Modlin Airport is a great starting point for a holiday in Poland. With a hire car from the airport, you can get around under your own steam and discover some of the lesser known highlights of the region. From the historic city of Warsaw to the beautiful Polish countryside, there is plenty to explore.

Where to hire a car at Warsaw Modlin Airport

There’s a good selection of car hire companies operating at Warsaw Modlin Airport. Avis, Budget, Express, Hertz, Sixt, National, Alamo and Panek all have offices based inside the airport’s terminal building.

Petrol Stations near Warsaw Modlin Airport

If you need to return your hire car with a full tank of petrol, there’s a service station conveniently located five minutes’ drive from the airport terminal. It’s a Statoil garage located on route 62 approaching the airport from Plock.

Driving around Warsaw Modlin Airport

Warsaw Modlin Airport is located northwest of Warsaw city centre and sits on a well-connected road network. Route 62 travels west towards Plock and east towards Wyszkow. The E77 also runs close to the airport and provides a route north towards Plonsk and the coast and south, heads into Warsaw centre before heading on towards Radom and Kielce.
You may find driving around Poland a little more demanding than driving back at home. Roads aren’t always in a great condition and journeys can be slow going as there are many major, single lane roads. Drivers sometimes fail to indicate before manoeuvring and tend to ignore speed limits, traffic lights and road signs. It’s best to take it easy on Polish roads, obey the rules and drive defensively.

Getting to your destination

With a hire car from Warsaw Modlin Airport, you’re within easy reach of some great destinations. Here are just a few of them:

As Poland’s capital city, Warsaw has a bustling and vibrant centre, full of museums, arts venues, bars and restaurants. The city sits on the Vistula River and boasts an atmospheric Old Town as well as lots of Communist era architecture.
It takes just over 30 minutes to drive from Warsaw Modlin Airport to Warsaw city centre, depending on the time of day. Traffic in the city can get congested at rush hours as there is no bypass road or official ring road. To get from the airport, drivers should take the E77 (or S7) directly into the city.
There’s a paid parking zone in the city centre, with charges imposed from 8am to 6pm on weekdays. Drivers will also find some large public parking lots at a number of large hotels, next to the Supreme Court and at Plac Krasinski.

Kampinos National Park

Kampinos National Park is a popular nature spot for Warsaw residents looking to escape the city hustle and bustle. Consisting of sand dunes, swamp lands, pine forests and meadow, the park is a great place for hiking, cycling, horse riding or, in winter months, skiing.
Kampinos National Park is around 20 minutes’ drive from Warsaw Modlin Airport, taking the S7 towards Warsaw and then route 579. There are roads throughout the park and a designated car park with reasonable day rates.

Konstancin-Jeziorna is a pretty spa town located southeast of Warsaw city. It’s an upmarket town with stately homes and lots of parkland. The spa itself is a popular spot for visitors but there are lots of outdoor activities to be enjoyed in the surrounding landscape, including fishing, hiking, cycling and kayaking.
Konstancin-Jeziorna is just under an hour’s drive from Warsaw Modlin Airport, taking route S7 through the city centre before picking up route 724. The small town is easy to navigate and there are plenty of places to park.
