Jet Airways Flights

Launched in 1993, and granted the status of scheduled airline two years later, Jet Airways soon grew to become India's largest airline. Although the budget airline IndiGo knocked them off the top spot in 2012, Jet Airways remains committed to providing a high standard of customer service on board. The airline is currently part-owned by Etihad, and is a member of the Etihad Partnership alliance along with eight other airlines. They also have their own frequent flyer program, JetPrivelege.

Jet Airways flies to more than 70 destinations, with more than 50 domestic routes and over 20 international ones. Jet Airways don't currently offer direct flights from Ireland, however they do fly from London Heathrow to Delhi and Mumbai. We think this is the perfect excuse to squeeze in a cheap London city break before hopping on your flight to India.

Why Fly Jet Airways?

How to Check In

Jet Airways offer the four standard check-in options of mobile, web, airport desk and self-service kiosk. They also have a few unconventional methods for checking in for your flight, for example through Twitter. You can do this by sending a DM (not an @) to the @jetairways account. It needs to follow the format of #checkin < First Name > < Last Name > < PNR > < Dep City >. If that sounds a bit high tech, you can also check in over the telephone and pick up your boarding card when you get to the airport. It's also possible to check in at some ferry ports if you're flying from Hong Kong, and some metro stations in Delhi. Jet Airways let passengers who are flying back the same day check in for both flights simultaneously, saving you bit of extra time.

Seating

Economy passengers can pre-select their preferred seat for an extra charge. Prices do depend on route, but if you're flying between London and India you can expect to pay £15 for a window seat and £40 for as eat with extra legroom. First and Première class passengers can choose a seat for free, as can JetPrivelege Platinum and Gold members. You can reserve your seat up until 24 hours before departure.

Booking Fees

Jet Airways charge a convenience fee for tickets purchased through their website and mobile app. On domestic routes, this is €7.40 for economy passengers and €5.80 for Première (business class) passengers. For international flights, the charge is €8.80 for economy and €10.50 for Première and First class.

Service on Board

Meals are included in your ticket price, with a range of European, Indian, and East Asian dishes to choose from. Tea lovers can enjoy a carefully-selected cuppa from the Sky Chai menu. Jet Airways business class (Première) customers can relax on lie-flat beds, while First class passengers have access to a 23 inch TV-screen. Vintage Bollinger is served in First class, along with a five course meal. In economy class, JetAirways Boeing 777 and Airbus A330 aircraft have seatback screens stocked with a range of on-demand films, TV shows and music. Boeing 737 aircraft don't have setback screens, but do have facilities so passengers can stream content from the JetScreen catalogue on their own tablet or smartphone. If you'd rather read, you can browse the in-flight magazine JetWings.

Punctuality

Jet Airways flights are usually on time. During 2016 the airline was rated as Asia-Pacific's most punctual airline, with over 76% departing within 15 minutes of the scheduled time.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Hold baggage allowance varies depending on what route you're flying on, which class you're flying in, and what kind of ticket you're holding. If you're flying from London, you'll have a minimum allowance of two bags weighing no more than 23kg each.

Every passenger can bring a piece of cabin baggage measuring no more than 55cm x 35cm x 25 cm and weighing up to 7kg. JetPrivilege Platinum, Gold members and Première have a larger weight allowance (10kg) and can bring an additional personal item, for example a handbag.
