Transavia flights

Transavia is a Dutch low cost airline owned by KLM. The company also has a French wing (pardon the pun), Transavia France. Transavia destinations are mostly popular holiday spots, particularly summer resorts and winter sports destinations throughout Europe and the Mediterranean. Transavia currently operate two routes from Ireland: Dublin to Paris and Dublin to Munich. As part of Air France KLM, Transavia is also part of the Flying Blue loyalty programme. Members can earn, spend and extend the validity of awards miles when you fly with Transavia.

Why fly Transavia

How to check in

Transavia check in is available online and at the airport. Online check in opens 30 hours (just over a day) before scheduled departure, and closes four hours beforehand. Unlike many other lowcost airlines, airport check in is also free. Simply bring your ticket and passport, and arrive at the desk no later than 40 minutes before departure (85 minutes if you're en route to Tel Aviv). Check in desks usually open two hours before scheduled departure.

Seat pitch is the distance between your seat and the one in front of you. The bigger the seat pitch, the more legroom you have (in theory). Transavia aircraft have an average seat pitch of 29", which is similar to other budget airlines such as easyJet. You can reserve your seat on a Transavia flight up to 48 hours before departure. In March 2017, charges were: €4 for any seat, €6 for a seat at the front of the aircraft, €15 for a seat in the first row, and €10 for a seat with extra legroom. Discounts are available for passengers on Plus tickets, and all seats are free to book for passengers on Max tickets.

Booking fees

There's a €6 booking fee for card payments.

Service on board

Transavia has an on-board cafe, so passengers can buy snacks, sandwiches, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages. There's also an on-board duty free shop, and you can browse the available selection of gifts and goodies in the Enjoy! Magazine catalogue.

Transavia was the third most punctual low cost airline in 2016, coming in just behind Monarch Airlines and GOL. Nearly 84% of their flights landed on time that year.
